No fees for kids’ same-county charter transfers
The law protects Tennessee children transferring from another school district in their home county to a public charter school. The charter school must be authorized by the county school district. Neither the county district nor the charter school can charge these children registration fees, enrollment fees, or tuition. In counties with multiple school districts, these children are not out-of-district students for charter enrollment, but admission is not guaranteed. These protections took effect upon enactment.
