County districts and county-authorized charter schools cannot charge registration, enrollment, or tuition fees. This covers students who live in the county and switch from one local district to a charter school in the same county. In counties with more than one district, these students are not treated as out-of-district for enrollment. That makes enrollment easier and saves families money. The law took effect immediately.
