Ban and $25,000 damages for eviction videos

Private participants in an eviction cannot livestream or post a near real-time video of serving or carrying out an eviction. Posting is allowed only if it is solely for legal documentation and the person shown gives express written permission. Victims can sue. Courts can award at least $25,000 for each intentional violation, plus actual damages, punitive damages, other relief, and attorney fees.

Landlords and officials can share eviction videos

The general ban on real-time eviction videos does not apply to certain parties. The landlord or property owner, their lawyers, the court, law enforcement agencies, and the property management company may publish or broadcast these videos.
