Sex offenders must disclose status before camping

Beginning July 1, 2026, Tennessee requires sexual offenders and violent sexual offenders to give notice before overnight campground stays. This applies while they must follow the state’s sex offender registry requirements. They must tell each campground’s owner or operator their offender status before beginning an overnight stay. Knowingly staying overnight without this notice is an offense, punishable under existing state-law penalties.
