Effective upon becoming law, Tennessee groups homes for the aged by the number of unrelated residents. These homes publicly offer older adults relatively permanent residential care, including room, meals, and personal services. Homes with five or fewer unrelated residents are tier 1; homes with six or more are tier 2. The act sets no new licensing standards, fees, or funding and specifies no changes to household costs.
