No time limit to prosecute female genital mutilation

Beginning May 6, 2026, prosecutors can file female genital mutilation charges at any time. There is no statute of limitations for that crime. This helps survivors by allowing cases even years later.

State ends female genital mutilation education program

Beginning May 6, 2026, the state ends the community education program on female genital mutilation. The health department no longer must run a state program. Communities and groups that used it lose a state-backed resource.
