Tribal member note on Utah IDs

Beginning January 1, 2027, you can ask for a "Federally Recognized Tribal Member" note on your Utah driver license or ID. You must request it during your application. Show one of these as proof: an enhanced tribal card, a tribal ID card, a tribal certificate of Indian blood, or a tribal or Bureau of Indian Affairs birth affidavit. The note does not list your specific tribe or other personal details.

One-time funds to add tribal note

Effective July 1, 2026, the state provides a one-time $192,900 to the Driver License Division. The money updates the license format so the tribal membership note can print. The listed fiscal year is July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
