Most Utah agency rules stay in force

The law reauthorizes Utah state agency rules. Five specific rule parts are not reauthorized: R156-28-302b(1)(b) and (c); R156-55d-302c(5); R156-55e-302a(1)(b); R156-61-302b(1)(b) and (c); and R156-61-302d. All other existing agency rules stay in effect. The law does not appropriate money.

Special effective date rules for law

By default, the law takes effect on May 6, 2026. If two-thirds of all members in each house approved it, the start date is the later of May 1, 2026 or the governor’s timing. Governor’s timing means: the day the governor approves; the day after the constitutional time limit if not approved; or the date of a veto override.
