More places to prosecute forgery

The law expands where Virginia can bring forgery cases. Prosecutors can file charges where the writing was forged. They can also file where it was used or passed, where someone tried to use or pass it, or where it was deposited with another person or business for collection or credit. They can file where the forged writing is found in the defendant’s possession. They can also file where an issuer, acquirer, or account holder lost money. These rules apply to forgery and related offenses, including violations of §§ 18.2-168, 18.2-170, and 18.2-172.
