Vermont sets 2026 nonhomestead property tax rate

Beginning July 1, 2025, Vermont sets the nonhomestead property tax rate for fiscal year 2026 only. Owners pay $1.703 per $100 of equalized education property value under this rate. This rate overrides conflicting tax-rate rules for that fiscal year. The law does not establish whether the rate is higher or lower than before.

Vermont sets homeowner tax figures and valuation

Beginning July 1, 2025, Vermont sets two homestead tax calculation figures for fiscal year 2026 only. The property-based yield is $8,596; the income-based yield is $12,172 for households whose calculation uses it. These figures are not payments or final tax bills. The law also divides the housesite’s April 1 property-tax list value by that taxable year’s statewide adjustment. This replaces the local appraisal-based calculation and is not limited to fiscal year 2026.
