Annual grant for Rock County HealthNet
Wisconsin's Department of Health Services must award HealthNet of Rock County, Inc. $50,000 each fiscal year. This replaces the former grant recipient name, HealthNet of Janesville, Inc. The law does not specify a direct household payment or a particular service funded by the grant.
Updated nurse roles in public health
Beginning September 1, 2026, advanced practice registered nurses replace nurse prescribers in specified public health roles. They can provide unpaid medical oversight services for local health departments where they are not employees. Schools and local health departments can select them to supervise immunization programs and issue written orders following state health protocols. For immunization services, state-agent status requires no employment by the county, city, village, or school district, no pay, and compliance with those protocols. The law also includes authorized physicians, physician assistants, and these nurses as state health department agents when determining who can request attorney general defense. It updates the public health nursing program term from “general” to “generalized.”
