Minor league players lose state wage protections
The exemption covers players with minor league baseball contracts who are paid under a collective bargaining agreement. That agreement must expressly set wages and working conditions. Qualifying players lose Wisconsin minimum wage and overtime protections. Employers are exempt from related hours-and-wages recordkeeping rules and need not record these players’ work hours. The law also waives hours records for other workers exempt under state overtime rules who are not paid hourly.
