Nurse prescribers can now pronounce deaths
Wisconsin now allows advanced practice nurses certified to issue prescription orders to pronounce deaths for death records. They can state the date, time, and place of death for patients whose care they were directly involved in. They must follow accepted medical standards. The existing exception in Wisconsin Statute 69.18(1)(cm) still applies.
