Fire grants cover soybean suppressants

The law makes purchases of fire suppression products made from soybeans an eligible cost under Wisconsin’s forest fire suppression grant program. The Department of Natural Resources can award grants that cover up to 50% of eligible costs. Soybean-based suppressants are now treated as an eligible purchase when used to fight fires. The law does not add new funding, dates, or separate grant streams. All existing program rules and limits set by DNR still apply.
