The law adds people defined in s. 45.01(12)(k) to those who can receive military funeral honors in Wisconsin. If the deceased meets that definition, their family can receive military honors at the funeral.
The Department now reimburses up to $100 for each funeral where a local veterans group provides military honors in Wisconsin. This raises the cap from $50. Eligible claimants are local units that belong to a Council on Veterans Programs member group or are certified by the Department. Payments come from the appropriation under s. 20.485(2)(sm).
