Wisconsin expands remotely supervised pharmacy services
Wisconsin allows pharmacies at any location to provide services without an on-site pharmacist, removing earlier limits on facility types. These pharmacies are called “remotely supervised pharmacies.” They must follow state pharmacy board rules, which can exempt them from requirements for other pharmacies. Managing pharmacists must oversee pharmacy operations. Each can manage no more than one community and one institutional pharmacy at once, and must practice at each location. Pharmacies operated only through remote supervision do not count toward those limits; the board defines the two pharmacy types.
