Defines the survey and investigation area and lets the Secretary add nearby land for better management. The Secretary can acquire up to 320 acres outside but close to the area. Those extra acres can only be used for a headquarters, access routes, or to fix or smooth boundary lines. The area also includes the Punta Gorda Addition and Southern Additions shown on the King Range National Conservation Area Boundary Map No. 2 (dated July 29, 1975) and the King Range National Conservation Area Additions shown on the King Range Wilderness map (dated November 12, 2004).
