Asylum Access and Border-Entry Rules Tightened
The Administration reinstated the Remain in Mexico policy, halted the practice of catch-and-release, and ended asylum for illegal border crossers as part of actions taken beginning January 20, 2025.
Large-Scale Arrests and Deportations Reported
Within the first 100 days of the Administration, the proclamation reports more than 150,000 arrests and more than 135,000 deportations, describing this as the largest deportation operation in U.S. history.

The proclamation reports that within the first 100 days daily border encounters dropped 95 percent, migrant crossings declined 99.99 percent, and fentanyl traffic fell 54 percent in March compared to March of the previous year.

On January 20, 2025 the President declared a National Emergency at the southern border, giving the Department of Defense added authority to support the Federal Government's response to the border situation.
Cartels and Gangs Designated as Terrorists
The President designated cartels and transnational groups (including Tren de Aragua and MS-13) as foreign terrorist organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists to end their campaign of violence on U.S. soil.
Border Wall Construction Resumed
The proclamation states that border wall construction has been resumed as part of the Administration's actions to secure the southern border.
