Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Nameplate and Marking Requirements Remain

The Standard requires permanent nameplates and markings on anhydrous ammonia containers and systems: certain systems must show nine specific characteristics and refrigerated containers must show eight specific characteristics under 29 CFR 1910.111. These markings are intended to ensure employers use properly designed and tested containers to prevent accidental release and worker exposure.

OMB Approval Extended — Continue Paperwork

OSHA is asking OMB to extend approval for the paperwork rules in the Anhydrous Ammonia Standard (29 CFR 1910.111), so businesses and farms that store or handle anhydrous ammonia must continue to follow these information-collection requirements. OSHA lists 6,125 respondents, 2,077 responses, an estimated total burden of 344 hours, and an estimated operation and maintenance cost of $0; comments are due by June 29, 2026.

Paperwork Burden Slightly Increases

OSHA reports the total estimated paperwork burden rising from 342 hours to 344 hours (an increase of 2 hours) because the number of employers counted increased from 2,500 to 6,125. The notice requests public comment on that burden estimate and related assumptions; comments are due June 29, 2026.
