The law sets tougher building standards for above-ground columbariums in established cemeteries. It applies only in cemeteries of at least 5 acres that have operated for at least 5 years. Plans and specifications must be approved by the Wyoming Department of Health before construction. Exterior walls and roofs must be granite, marble, slate, sandstone, limestone, or concrete block (or similar), at least 6 inches thick, and designed to withstand weather. Exterior doors must be made of stone, bronze, or aluminum alloys (or similar). Interiors must use durable stone or concrete (or similar) that provides structural integrity. The law takes effect immediately.
