Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Easier bed growth for hospitals and nursing homes

Beginning July 1, 2026, the state removes rules that limited how many beds hospitals and nursing homes can add. Providers can expand bed counts without those old caps. This may increase local access to inpatient and long‑term care over time. The law does not add funding or change who qualifies for care.

New safety review before facility construction

Beginning July 1, 2026, licensed health care facilities must submit building plans to the Department of Health for approval before work starts. They must also submit any big plan changes for approval before making them. Plans must show any increase in bed counts. The department may use the plans only to check health care and life‑safety rules.
