2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Beginning July 1, 2025, Wyoming sends sales and use tax from motor vehicle and trailer sales to the state highway fund. The money pays for highway operation, maintenance, construction, and reconstruction. For sales tax, the Department of Revenue must credit the fund within 90 days after each fiscal year ends. These rules apply to vehicle and trailer purchases, and the taxes on them, paid on or after July 1, 2025.
The law provides $15 million from the legislative stabilization reserve account to Wyoming DOT to repair and maintain I-80 tunnels. DOT uses this only after other federal funds are used, or to meet federal matching needs. The money is available through June 30, 2027, and any unspent amount returns to the reserve that day. On June 30, 2027, the state transfers up to $15 million from the highway fund back to the reserve, equal to what DOT spent from this tunnel money.
