Higher school district reserves with limits

Beginning July 1, 2025, Wyoming keeps a higher reserve cap for school districts through June 30, 2028. For fiscal years ending June 30, 2022 through June 30, 2028, the Department counts any reserves over 30% of a district’s foundation program. Money between 15% and 30% must be tracked separately and cannot be transferred or spent on capital construction. Capital construction does not include major building and facility repair and replacement. The Department computes and reports these amounts each year.
