Beginning July 1, 2025, the state creates a wildlife conservation account inside the state highway fund. Money from wildlife plate fees and other listed sources goes into this account. The account is run and used as the law directs. This organizes funding and does not set how much money will be spent.
Starting July 1, 2025, you can apply for wildlife plates at the Wyoming DOT or your county treasurer. This is for vehicles registered in Wyoming that are not commercial or multipurpose. Apply at least 30 days before your registration is due and pay the normal plate fees with your application. Pay a one-time $150 eligibility fee; the $50 annual fee is waived that first year. In later years you pay $50 each year. You may add a voluntary donation with the initial and annual payments. The county treasurer issues the plates, and they must stay on the vehicle they were issued for.
