The state provides $20 million to the School Facilities Commission to complete a high school project in Campbell County School District #1. The money can pay for demolition, site work, and construction, with commission approval and inclusion in the district facility plan. The funds stay available until the project is done; leftover money returns. If 2025 House Bill 0259 also funds this project, this amount drops dollar for dollar.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the state counts up to 135% of the standard classroom space per student when funding school maintenance, operations, and related foundation payments. Space above 135% is not counted. Other years keep the 115% cap unless the law changes.
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, the major maintenance formula uses a 2% rate. The state multiplies each district’s calculated amount from building space and categories by 2% to set annual payments. This rate continues each year after 2025-2026.
The state provides $38.1 million to the State Construction Department for major maintenance payments required by this law. The money is available July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 and cannot be used for other purposes. Any funds left on June 30, 2026 return to the account.
