Charter schools get proportional district funding

Beginning July 1, 2025, districts must give charter schools a share of certain state foundation funds based on enrollment. The share equals the charter’s average daily membership (ADM) divided by the district’s total ADM. Charter schools also receive their full per-student state foundation funding, with a few specific deductions set in state law. As a charter’s enrollment share grows, it gets more of these dollars, and the district central office keeps less.
