Beginning January 1, 2025, land owned by the State of Wyoming is exempt from property tax, no matter how it is used. Buildings or other improvements can still be taxed if they are not owned and used mainly for a government purpose. The broad land exemption is repealed on January 1, 2027. The law also confirms that leasing state school or farm lands counts as a government use under the standing exemption.
