118-hr-346, NOTAM Improvement Act of 2023
This law directs the Federal Aviation Administration to modernize NOTAM publication and delivery so critical flight information is more timely, accurate, and easier for pilots to use. It creates a specialized FAA Task Force to review current NOTAM practices and recommend prioritized, user-friendly formats, technical upgrades, and cybersecurity protections.
118-hr-1096, 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps Commemorative Coin Act
Creates a self‑financing commemorative coin program honoring the United States Marine Corps' 250th anniversary. The law authorizes specially designed gold, silver, and half‑dollar coins sold with a 2025 date and required inscriptions.
118-hr-5110, Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act
Creates a narrow exception allowing federal education funds to support student instruction in activities such as archery, hunting, other shooting sports, and culinary arts. It amends ESEA section 8526(7) to say the general prohibition on using federal education funds for weapons does not apply to funds under this Act when those funds pay for program activities that are otherwise permissible and that provide educational instruction or enrichment.
118-hr-82, Social Security Fairness Act of 2023
Repeals the Government Pension Offset and the Windfall Elimination Provision to restore Social Security benefits for many public‑sector retirees. It removes statutory cross‑references to those rules and directs the Social Security Administration to update benefit calculations and payments. - Public‑sector retirees with pensions from jobs not covered by Social Security will stop having their spousal or survivor benefits reduced. Many people who lost part of their Social Security because of these offsets can see higher monthly checks. - Workers whose own Social Security benefits were cut by the Windfall Elimination Provision will no longer face that penalty when their benefit is computed. That raises the primary insurance amount used to set their monthly benefit. - The Social Security Administration must adjust primary insurance amounts and monthly insurance benefits for months after December 2023, so changes take effect starting January 2024.
118-hr-9106, Enhanced Presidential Security Act of 2024
Same standards for deciding how many Secret Service agents protect Presidents, Vice Presidents, and major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates. The law ties who counts as a "major" candidate to section 3056 of title 18, United States Code and to any candidate the President authorizes the Secret Service to protect. - Protection staffing for Presidents, Vice Presidents, and covered candidates must be determined using the same standard, so agent counts are set uniformly across those groups. - The Director of the United States Secret Service must conduct a comprehensive review of protection for Presidents, Vice Presidents, former Presidents, and covered candidates and deliver findings and recommendations within 180 days. - The House and Senate Judiciary Committees receive the report and recommendations to consider improvements to how protection is provided.
