Became Law
Summary
This law expands eligibility for government-furnished headstones, markers, and medallions for Medal of Honor recipients. The Mark Our Place Act authorizes the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to furnish or replace a government headstone, marker, or medallion for an eligible Medal of Honor recipient regardless of the recipient’s dates of service. It does this by amending 38 U.S.C. 2306(d)(5)(C), removing a clause, redesignating subsequent clauses, and correcting cross-references to section 2732. *The law broadens eligibility for this benefit and does not include new appropriations or funding authorizations.*

More grave markers for Medal of Honor recipients
The law lets the VA furnish or replace a government headstone, marker, or medallion for any Medal of Honor recipient. It applies no matter when the recipient served. The person responsible for the grave can request this help. This takes effect upon enactment. The law also updates a related code cross-reference.
