Tax credit for blind access technology
This bill would let you claim a nonrefundable income tax credit for access technology used by a blind person in your household. The eligible user could be you, your spouse, or your dependent who is blind. It would cover what you pay for hardware or software that turns visual information into formats blind people can use, if not paid by insurance. The credit would be up to $2,000 per qualified blind person in any 3 consecutive tax years; after 2026, that limit could rise with inflation and would be rounded down to the nearest $100. You could not claim this for costs already used for another tax credit or deduction. It would apply to tax years beginning after Dec. 31, 2025, and would not apply to costs in tax years beginning after Dec. 31, 2030.
