In Committee
Summary
Recognize nurse registries as providers in the Veterans Community Care Program. This bill would require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to accept nurse registries for veterans' community care. It would make registries that supply registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, companions, or homemakers eligible under the program. The bill would define a "nurse registry" as an entity that arranges contracts for those workers to provide health or support services and that meets applicable State licensure requirements.

More VA home care through nurse registries
If enacted, veterans using VA community care could have more home care choices. VA would be able to recognize nurse registries and workers who go through them. A nurse registry arranges contracts for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, companions, or homemakers. Registries would need to meet any state license rules. The bill would not set payment rates or add new funding.
