Summary

Requires a GAO report measuring esophageal cancer spending and screening rates in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). It directs the Comptroller General to report to Congress within one year of enactment on total FEHBP health care spending for federal employees and retirees diagnosed with esophageal cancer and on how often FEHBP enrollees identified as high risk receive screenings under the guidelines in effect as of December 2022, which include American Gastroenterological Association recommendations for people with three or more risk factors such as male sex, non-Hispanic white ethnicity, age 50 or older, history of smoking, chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease, obesity, or a family history of Barrett’s Esophagus or esophageal adenocarcinoma.
