Uplifting First-Time Homebuyers Act of 2025

Sponsored By: Representative Van Duyne

Introduced

Summary

Raises the cap on qualified first-time homebuyer distributions to $50,000. This bill would amend Section 72(t)(8)(B)(i) of the Internal Revenue Code to replace the current $10,000 limit with a $50,000 limit for qualified first-time homebuyer distributions. The change would apply to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2024. That would let eligible first-time buyers access larger qualified withdrawals to help pay for a first home.
