Stricter Medicaid/CHIP coverage during status checks
This bill would tie Medicaid and CHIP payments to proof of citizenship or immigration status. Federal money would not pay for care during the verification window unless your status is verified by the end. States could choose to keep coverage during these periods; if they do not, coverage could be denied or stopped while you verify. It would cover the 90-day Social Security data-match and other reasonable opportunity periods. If enacted, this would start on the date of enactment.
