More claims data for clinical registries
If enacted, HHS would set up a process by January 1, 2026 for clinical data registries to request claims data. They could get Medicare data, and possibly Medicaid and CHIP data if HHS allows. Data could be by provider, specialty, state, or nationwide. Registries could link claims with outcomes, check and improve care quality, and publish deidentified research. Registries would not need to be qualified entities to use this process. CMS would charge a reasonable fee equal to its cost to provide the data, with fees going to the CMS Program Management Account.
