Five-year funding to upgrade national labs
If enacted, this bill would provide up to $5 billion per year from 2026 through 2030 to the Energy Department. The money would fix deferred maintenance and modernize national labs and single‑purpose research facilities, including buildings, utilities, roads, and power plants. At least one‑third of each year’s funding would be managed by the Office of Science. Each year, the Secretary would send Congress a project list and funding plan with the President’s budget. Within one year, the Secretary would deliver a strategy report with 10‑year plans, costs, schedules, and how facilities would be maintained, closed, modified, or built.
