More border security grants for local law enforcement
If enacted, the government would provide $110 million each year for 2025–2028 for Operation Stonegarden grants. At least $36,666,666 each year would have to buy gear and tech like radios, sensors, and drones. The bill would create an Operation Stonegarden Trust Fund. For 2025–2028, Treasury would deposit money equal to unreported cash and similar seized instruments taken by CBP from people crossing the U.S.–Mexico border. DHS could use this Trust Fund money only for these grants, and without another vote of Congress.
