Sponsored By: Representative Lee, Susie [D-NV-3]
Introduced
Summary
Creates a new pathway for employers to claim the Work Opportunity Tax Credit by hiring veterans who are attending school with Department of Veterans Affairs or Department of Defense education benefits. It also waives the credit's usual minimum employment-period rule for this new veteran category and would apply to hires who begin work after enactment.

Tax credit for hiring student veterans
If enacted, employers would be able to claim the Work Opportunity Tax Credit when they hire a veteran who is attending school using certain VA or military education benefits. Those benefits are under title 38 chapters 30, 31, 32, 33, or 34, or title 10 chapters 1606 or 1607. The bill would also remove the WOTC minimum employment period for this newly qualified veteran group. These rules would apply only to people who begin work after the date of enactment.
