Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Permanent residency and removal relief

If enacted, Dr. Yue-Cheng Yang would be able to apply for an immigrant visa or to adjust to lawful permanent residence. He would have to file the application and pay required fees within two years after enactment. If he enters the United States before that filing deadline, he would be treated as having entered and remained lawfully and, if otherwise eligible, could seek adjustment of status as of the date of enactment. The bill would also require the Secretary of Homeland Security to rescind any removal or deportation orders, or findings of inadmissibility or deportability, shown in DHS or State Visa Office records on the date of enactment, and bar removal or denial of admission based on those recorded grounds.

One visa taken from country cap

If enacted and Dr. Yue-Cheng Yang receives an immigrant visa or permanent residence, the Secretary of State would reduce by one the number of immigrant visas available to natives of his birth country. The reduction would take effect in the current or next fiscal year and would apply under the applicable country-cap rules.
