New crypto rules for public officials

This resolution would prohibit covered officials and their immediate family from issuing, sponsoring, or endorsing digital assets. It would also bar foreign investment in digital assets those covered individuals issue, promote, or control. Covered officials and their immediate family would have to put digital assets into a qualified blind trust. That trust would be inaccessible during candidacy, while in public service, and for two years after service. The resolution would require full, timely public disclosure of all cryptocurrency transactions by those covered. It would back laws creating civil and criminal penalties for violations and call such violations unofficial acts.
