Sponsored By: Senator Wicker, Roger F. [R-MS]
Introduced
Summary
Excludes certain federally subsidized loan repayments to dental school faculty from federal taxable income. It would extend that tax exclusion to repayments made through programs funded by the Dental Faculty Development and Loan Repayment Program and require a Government Accountability Office (GAO) review of participation and retention.

- Dental faculty: Dental school faculty who get loan repayments from qualifying federal or state programs would not include those payments in their federal gross income, increasing their take‑home pay.
- Dental schools and clinics: The GAO review must track whether participants remain full‑time faculty teaching and practicing in dental school clinics, hospitals, or community affiliated sites after receiving funding.
- Oversight for Congress: The GAO would report to congressional committees on how many dental providers and faculty participate in funded programs and on retention and practice-location outcomes.

Lower taxes on dental faculty loan repayments
If enacted, you would be able to exclude from your taxable income loan repayments you receive as dental school faculty under the Dental Faculty Development and Loan Repayment Program. The exclusion would apply to amounts received in taxable years beginning after the date of enactment. That could lower your federal income tax in the year you get the payment. The bill would also direct the Government Accountability Office to review and report on dental faculty participation in that program.
