  • Wartime veterans: Higher monthly disability compensation and related dependent payments. The law adjusts the base rates for wartime disability pay and additional compensation for dependents using the Social Security increase effective Dec 1, 2025.
  • Survivors and children: Dependency and Indemnity Compensation for surviving spouses and eligible children rise by the same percentage as the Social Security cost-of-living increase.
  • Clothing allowance: The annual clothing allowance paid to eligible veterans is raised to match the Social Security-based increase.
  • Implementation and administration: The VA Secretary may administratively adjust rates for veterans covered by Public Law 85-857, section 10 who have not received compensation under chapter 11. The VA must publish the adjusted amounts in the Federal Register by the same SSA publication trigger for fiscal year 2026.

VA disability and survivor checks rise

Starting December 1, 2025, VA disability pay and survivor benefits go up. The increase is the same percent as the Social Security cost-of-living raise on that date. It applies to disability pay, extra amounts for dependents, the clothing allowance, and DIC for spouses and children. To estimate your new monthly amount, multiply your current VA payment by 1 plus that percent. VA can also raise certain legacy disability rates to match this increase.
