Changes to Medicare air ambulance payments

If enacted, HHS would be allowed to change Medicare Part B payment rates for air ambulance services. HHS could use data already collected under section 106 and new reports from air ambulance providers. Providers would have to send cost, use, and Part B revenue data every three years. HHS must finish a final rule for this data collection within 6 months after enactment. The Comptroller General would report to Congress within 1 year after data collection starts. If HHS revises rates, it must use a transparent process and consider stakeholder input. These changes could raise or lower what Medicare pays and what beneficiaries pay out of pocket.
