Bill Overview
Analyzed Economic Effects
2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.
Pause clean electricity tax credit
This bill would suspend the Section 45Y clean electricity production tax credit for electricity produced from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2027. If enacted, renewable electricity generators and their investors would not be able to claim that credit for production in that period. That could raise tax bills or reduce profits for companies and investors who rely on the credit.
Send extra tax revenue to SPR
This bill would require the Secretary of the Treasury to deposit into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) Petroleum Account amounts equal to any increase in Treasury revenues that result from suspending the Section 45Y credit. Deposits would equal the incremental revenues attributable to that suspension and be placed in the SPR Petroleum Account under existing law. The requirement would apply only to the extra tax money caused by the credit suspension.
