Report on Medicaid marijuana hospital costs

If enacted, the Secretary of Health and Human Services would collect data on Federal and State Medicaid spending tied to marijuana-related inpatient, outpatient, and hospital emergency room care. The Secretary would define terms like "marijuana use" and "emergency services" for the data collection. The requirement would apply regardless of how those services are classified. Not later than 1 year after enactment, the Secretary would send a report to Congress, publish it publicly, and could include recommendations for legislation or administrative action. This would only require reporting and would not change Medicaid benefits, eligibility, or funding.
