Report on reactors in conflict zones

This bill would require the Secretary of Defense and the Under Secretary of Energy for Nuclear Security to jointly report. They would deliver the report to three Senate and three House committees within 120 days after enactment. The report would be unclassified and would include a classified annex if needed. It would cover reactors that exist now or are scheduled to be finished within ten years. It would focus on areas that had armed conflict in the prior 25 years and on contested areas. The bill names Russia's attacks on Ukraine and conflicts involving Israel and Iran as examples. It also lists possible conflicts involving the Baltic states, India and Pakistan, Taiwan, and North Korea. The report would identify steps the United States and its allies can take to prevent and prepare for reactor risks.
