Extend federal surveillance authorities to July

This bill would keep certain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Title VII authorities in effect until July 2, 2026. It would replace two statutory sunset dates that currently say June 12, 2026 with July 2, 2026. The amendments would take effect on the earlier of the date this bill is enacted or June 11, 2026. If enacted, federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies would continue to be able to use these authorities during that period. Most households would see only indirect public-safety effects, not direct tax or benefit changes.
