Grants for South Asian Heart Health
If enacted, the bill would let HHS, through the CDC, award extra grants to States that get federal heart health funding. It would authorize $2,000,000 per year for each fiscal year 2027 through 2031 to run the program. States would use the money to make culturally appropriate heart health materials, support community groups, hold workshops to improve research inclusion, and fund research on cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Grants would target communities disproportionately affected by heart disease, including South Asian communities in the United States. Within two years of enactment, CDC would report to Congress on the activities funded and related data.
