Faster congressional response to Supreme Court rulings
This bill would create a fast, limited path for Congress to consider one joint resolution after certain Supreme Court decisions. A "covered Supreme Court decision" would mean a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that interprets a federal law or reinterprets the Constitution in a way that diminishes an individual right or privilege. A qualifying joint resolution would have to be introduced the day of the decision or within 10 days of session, bear the exact title "Joint resolution relating to ____" and have no preamble, and be germane to that decision. The Senate would have to report a covered joint resolution within 30 days of session after referral or place it on the calendar under the bill's expedited rules.
