Block federal funding at Memorial Circle
If enacted, federal agencies would be prohibited from using federal funds to plan, design, engineer, permit, or construct a structure or monument at Memorial Circle. The ban would also cover ground preparation and any ground disturbance. Memorial Circle is defined as National Park Service reservation number 344, tract 344-012, in Lady Bird Johnson Park (formerly Columbia Island) in the District of Columbia. The restriction would not apply to a structure or monument expressly authorized under 40 U.S.C. 8106 or chapter 89 (the Commemorative Works Act). The prohibition would take effect upon enactment.
