A resolution acknowledging and apologizing for the mistreatment of, and discrimination against, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals who served the United States in the uniformed services, the Foreign Service, and the Federal civil service and committing to the pursuit of equal rights, protections, and respect for all LGBT servicemembers and Federal civil servants.

Summary
A federal apology for past anti-LGBT policies would be issued by the Senate, accompanied by a formal condemnation of discrimination. This resolution would require the Senate to acknowledge wrongful termination and exclusion of thousands of LGBT individuals from the Federal civil service, the Foreign Service, and the uniformed services, apologize to affected service members, veterans, Federal employees, and their families, reaffirm the need to treat LGBT people with equal respect and fairness, and state that it does not authorize or settle legal claims against the United States.
